1. What is nutritional coaching and how is it different than a diet or therapy?
Health Coaching is an innovative approach to health and nutrition and is the fastest growing niche market in all of professional coaching. It is predicted to play a major role in solving many of the problems in healthcare today. In my practice, I work on adding in foods to my clients diets rather than taking away which makes my style unique over traditional diets. While most diets work to deprive you and eliminate foods, I find that model unsustainable and leads to sabotage in the long run. By integrating healthy choices gradually, the less healthy habits naturally start to fall away. The other major factor that makes this program unique is that we don’t just focus on food. Nourishment goes beyond what we put in our mouths. We also examine your Primary Foods, which is nourishment that doesn’t come on your plate. Primary Foods include lifestyle factors such as exercise, stress, relationships, and career. All of these intersect when we talk about health.
2. What is my background and how did I become an expert at natural weight loss?
I transitioned into health coaching after a lengthy corporate career that left me worn out and exhausted. Due to severely high stress, I would often binge on refined carbs and sugar to give me energy to keep going. It left me cranky, irritable, and overweight and ultimately led to complete burnout. I knew I had to refocus and decided enough was enough and made a decision to put my mental and physical health first. Shortly after, I found The Institute for Integrative Nutrition in New York City and was literally transformed. It was through IIN that I realized that the fascination I had with holistic health, which I was drawn to after medications had failed to treat many of my conditions, could actually become my career, and in doing so, I could help others see their health improve in a way I truly believed in. So, I left corporate America and haven’t looked back. Now I’m much more healthier and happier – drug-free! And I found that by achieving balance in my life, I naturally achieved balanced in my body, including my weight.
3. Who will benefit best from one of my programs and what is expected of the client?
I like to work with clients who are excited about trying something new and who are ready to take responsibility for having their best life ever! My clients are enthusiastic and present for each session. As my client, you are expected to call on time and be in a quiet space without distractions. If you are unable to make a session, you must do so 48 hours in advance. I keep the same commitment to you. The clients I work with are open to the holistic approach and are willing to honestly look at their lives in order to make lifestyle adjustments that lead to finding balance and creating optimal health.
4. Who is not likely to benefit from my program?
Anyone looking for a quick fix or who is not committed to long term change would not find my approach suitable. A gradual process over time is what I find works best but it requires consistency and dedication in order to achieve results. Throughout your program, you will delve into where your life is out of balance in order to determine the next step for change which is paramount to health. All components of your life are important factors that affect your results and demand an honest evaluation in order to move you toward overall well being.
5. How can I guarantee to get the most of the program and reach my goals?
The most important factor for guaranteeing results is the understanding that you have to work the program. The program works, but only if you work it. I will coach you through each session and make ongoing recommendations but much of the success depends on you and your willingness to follow through.
