Enzymes Impact Your Body’s Ability to Lose Weight and Much More
Enzymes have often been referred to as the key to life, which, after extensive study and training in them, I’d have to say I agree.
It wasn’t until a few years ago that I even knew what an enzyme was, let alone what it did for my body, but ever since then I’ve been a full-on enzyme junkie. I mean hey, at least when it comes to being a junkie, this is one time that’s not a bad thing.
What is an enzyme you ask? Great question, and one that I’ll happily answer. An enzyme is a large protein molecule that is found in all living things, from food, to humans, to cats and dogs. In nutrition, they’re essential to breaking down food into energy and ultimately making your body. Without enzymes the body cannot utilize proteins, fats, carbohydrates, fibers, and sugars, we eat.
You cannot live without enzymes, otherwise you’d literally be dead. They are responsible for the chemical process that converts food into microscopic particles, or nutrients, that create your hair, skin and nails. In other words, YOU.
There are 3 kinds of enzymes:
1) Digestive
2) Plant
3) Metabolic
Digestive enzymes break down food, plant enzymes break down food in the pre-digestive phase of digestion before stomach acid inactivates them, and metabolic enzymes clean your blood of impurities and foreign invaders. All are critical to healthy digestion and immune function.
Our bodies produce very few enzymes. Most of the enzymes we need come from food, however so as to extend shelf life, food manufacturers have made it common practice to irradiate conventionally grown food which kills the naturally-occurring enzymes in fruits and vegetables. In that case, no amount of chewing will activate them because they simply no longer exist, which puts tremendous strain on the digestive track to try to break down food without the aid of proper enzyme supplementation.
As a result of too much stress, not enough nutrient-dense food, cooking, eating too fast, improper digestion, and aging, our enzyme production all but ceases leading to chronic degenerative diseases such as diabetes, heart and kidney failure, and cancer.
I have personally seen the most amazing results in my clients just by getting them on the right enzyme protocol. Sleep issues disappear, anxiety and depression lift, indigestion clears up, nails regrow and strengthen, and stubborn fat melts away.
How could that be? Easy. It’s all due to lipase, which is a fat-splitting enzyme that breaks down fat and moves it and distributes it, not to mention burns fat for energy. Lipase activity will break down and dissolve fat throughout your body and without it, fat stagnates and accumulates in the organs, arteries, and capillaries. You’ll see it on your hips, thighs, butt, and abs, particularly if you’re a woman because women typically have a harder time breaking fats (and protein) down.
Enzymes are not a quick fix mind you, but they do produce amazing results once the source of stress is identified and targeted, which is what sets enzyme therapy apart from the typical “sick care” approach to health that unfortunately fails to identify and remove the source of stress to begin with. Whether it’s mechanical, emotional or nutritional (MEN), stress is inescapable and is the #1 cause of all symptoms shared amongst my clients and the general population.
I’ve had tremendous success helping people solve the top most mysterious symptoms in their bodies by adding enzymes, including:
- Back Pain
- Shoulder Pain
- Sprains and Strains
- Headaches
- Digestive Issues
- Allergies
- Poor Immune Response
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Insomnia
I’ve even seen improvement with arthritis and high blood pressure too!

My pleasure Dorothy Inez! Enzymes are truly 1 of the most amazing discoveries and help so many people overcome most issues that Western meds can’t.

Such great information in this post, Angela. I’ve seen digestive enzymes make a huge difference with my mom in completely eliminating digestive upset after meals. Thank you for posting this.

Thank you so much for this excellent information. I have been suffering with insomnia and I knew it was a dietary deficiency but couldn’t figure out what. Thanks for clarifying. I will be taking action on this so I can sleep better.

Thanks to you Angela I am just beginning to get a sense, from personal experience, how enzymes, as food supplements or otherwize, are essential elements of a healthy diet.

Thanks Caitriona! I’m excited for the changes you’re in for!

Thanks Angela! I’m with you–I’m a huge proponent of enzymes for my clients and personally I have problems breaking down fat and protein without added enzymes. I also love that enzymes recirculate in our bodies, which makes external supplementing so much more sustainable than a lot of supplements.

Right on about enzymes Angela! Another reason for enzyme deficiency in our foods is because they are not allowed to ripen on the vine or in the fields. Thus no enzyme development. Mother nature always knows best when it comes to a balance of nutrients in foods. Why the heck do we humans think we can improve on her!!?? Great article Sweetie!
